In Argentina, there were around 30,000 people abducted by the oppressive government through the years of 1976 to 1983, collectively known as “los desaparecidos.” Many of these people never returned to their families, vanishing without a trace. Though it does not occur in the country today, it serves as a grim reminder of what can happen, and what must be done to avoid it. I chose not to show the eyes in this picture to represent how many of these victims never saw the light of day ever again, let alone their families who searched for them.
